AUSANGANTE MOUNTAIN

PRIVATE AND POOLED SERVICE.

 

For many centuries people of the rural areas of the Peru have maintained several ancestral elements. One of that areas that have experienced few changes are the Andean communities that are located in the mountain ranges of Ausangate. The trip that we offer will allow experiences that will never be forgotten for it will allow to get a view into the depth of the Peruvian soul and to see the people in their natural inhabitance.

 

Day 01: Cusco – Ocongate – Tinqui

We left Cusco in a private bus to Urcos town, and drive along the Cusco - Puerto Maldonado route, then passed Ocongate town until we arrive to Tinqui (3800 masl), where we sleep in a local lodge.

 

Day 02: Tinqui – Upis

This day we will begin our walk, passing by Quinsapucyu, Huarmisaya until we arrive to Upis which offer fantastic views of Ausangate.

 

Day 03: Upis – Pukacocha

We go toward the pass of Arapa, at approximately 4500 meters above sea level, and then we camp near the lagoon of Pukacocha.

 

Day 04: Pukacocha – Jampa

We will visit a group of small lakes, from then we will direct us to the highest pass of our trekking, the pass of Palomani at 4800 meter above sea level, and at dusk we will arrive to Jampa.

 

Day 05: Jampa – Komerqocha – Pachaspata

We will go toward the valley of Jampa, surrounding it for the northwest until we arrive to the Ticllacocha lagoon. Then we will cross the last pass located at 4,650 meters above sea level. Passing it we will arrive to the pampas of Pachaspata, where we will camp in the banks of the Qomercocha Lake.

 

Day 06: Pachaspata – Pachanta

We will descend to the valley until arrive to Pachanta town. In Pachanta, we will take a rest and take a bath in the thermal waters of the place.

 

Day 07: Pachanta – Tinqui – Cusco

Then of a brief walk, we will arrive to the highway, where a vehicle will be waiting for us in order to drive us to Cusco, arriving at dusk.

 

What is Included:

• Collection from your hotel in the morning and transfer in private bus to Tinki, the starting point of the trek.

• English speaking professional guide

• Meals 6 Breakfasts / 6 Lunches / 6 Dinners & Snacks

• Cook and cooking equipment

• Accommodation for our guides, cook and horsemen

• Horsemen and horses (to carry tents, food and cooking equipment)

• Horses to carry personal gear up to 9 kg per passenger

• 1 emergency horse

• Gear:

• Igloo tents 2 people in each 3-people-capacity tents to allow for higher comfort and a safe keeping of backpacks

• Keeping of backpacks

• Rolling mattress per person

• Dinner tent

• Toilet tent

• Kitchen tent

• Tables & seats

• Table set

• First-aid kit including emergency oxygen bottle

• Private transportation from Tinki to Cusco.

 

What is not Included:

• Sleeping bag

• Breakfast on the first day

• Dinner on the last day

What you need to bring:

• A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek

• Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco)

• Strong footwear, ideally trekking or sport shoes

• Warm clothes, including jacket, fleece and sweaters

• Flashlight and batteries

• Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)

• Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain or cold

• Sun block

• Insect repellent

• Toilet paper

• Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, etc.

• Water bottle and sterilizing tablets (ie. Micropur)

• Small towel

• Swimsuit (if you intend to go to the hot springs)

• Optional: walking sticks or poles

Optional services to be hired:

• An extra horse to carry your additional personal items (above the included 9kg): A horse can carry up to 20 kg.

Due to weather conditions, the recommended period for this trek is: April – November.

 

PRIVATE SERVICE: You won’t share the group with other people.
